An SVG viewer opens an .svg file and draws it. This one runs in your browser: drop a file or paste its code, zoom in as close as you like, and see what the file is made of, its anchor points, shapes, colors, size and code. It also checks what most viewers skip: whether the file is real shapes, a trace with thousands of points, or a picture saved as an SVG, and whether it holds a script. Nothing is uploaded unless you ask.

Your file, checked

Drawn as shapes

Every line here is read from the file's own code, in your browser. Its code is under the check, each line a check points at marked.

Viewing one

How do I view an SVG file online?

Drop it on this page or paste its code. It is drawn as an image in your browser: zoom in as close as you like, switch to its anchor points, and lay it on white, black or a see-through grid.
  1. Drop the .svg file on the viewer, choose it, or paste its code with ⌘ V anywhere on the page.
  2. Zoom with + and −, a pinch, or ⌘ and the wheel; double-click to go twice as close.
  3. Press Points to see every anchor point; the check under the viewer reads the rest of the file.

Three files

How do I check an SVG file?

Look at what it is made of: shapes or a picture, how many anchor points, whether it scales, and whether it holds a script. The three files below look like the same mark; up close, they are three kinds of file.

The same coffee mark three ways: VecSnap's drawing, potrace's trace of the same picture, and the picture saved as an SVG. Open any of them in the viewer above.

Why is my SVG blurry, or a black box in Cricut?

Because it holds a picture where its shapes should be. Some apps save as SVG by wrapping the pixels in an image element: enlarged, they blur, and a cutting machine finds no shape to cut. Take the picture out and draw it as shapes.

Drop the picture. Get its SVG.

  1. Open the SVG in the viewer above: the check finds the picture inside.
  2. Press Convert the picture inside beside your file, or drop the original picture here.
  3. VecSnap draws it again as shapes, every anchor point shown before you keep it.

Safe to open

Is it safe to open an SVG file?

An SVG is code, and it can hold a script: SVG attachments became a common phishing trick in 2025. Opened here, a file is drawn as an image, which browsers never let run a script or load another file, and the check names any script it holds.

From an email you did not expect, open it here or in a text editor, and never by double-clicking it.
