Vectorize an image in Figma, or bring in an SVG.

Figma's Vectorize turns a picture into vector layers. Or convert it first and paste a clean SVG: every part stays one shape you can edit.

To vectorize an image in Figma, select it and choose Vectorize, in the toolbar's More menu: Figma turns the picture into vector layers, in full color, grays or black and white, using Figma AI credits. To bring in a clean SVG instead, convert the picture first, then paste the file's code onto the canvas: Figma opens it as layers you can edit, each part one shape.

Can Figma vectorize an image?

Yes. Select an image, open More in the toolbar and choose Vectorize: Figma turns it into vector layers and lets you set how many colors it keeps. It uses Figma AI credits.

Figma's help lists it on the Starter, Professional, Education, Organization and Enterprise plans, for anyone who can edit the file, and warns that complex or low-resolution images may not vectorize well.

Easy to edit

What makes an SVG easy to edit in Figma?

Few anchor points and one shape for each part. A traced file arrives as jagged paths with many points to drag; a drawn one keeps circles round and each color one fill.

Up close, the same mark as potrace traced it and as VecSnap drew it: every anchor point you would edit.
